First post of the new year and we want to start by wishing you all the best for 2009! Let it be fast and loud!

We're pleased to announce in our first bulletin of 2009 that we have joined the roster of Black Box Bookings. We're stoked to work with Joël, he's a hard working guy who knows what's up and he's got some great bands under his wings. We're sure this is going to be another exciting chapter!

Our trip to Spain was plain awesomeness! We had a great time partying with everybody in Navia, Madrid and Paloma. Thanks for making the trip worthwile!

Running up to this date it has been pretty hectic with all the promotalk that goes with the release. Great! And next week we're heading for Spain to do a first little TOT-promo tour. All our Spanish friends, please check the showsection to see if we'll thrash in a city near you! It'll be fun! Furthermore we're working on more supportshows and tour in the beginning of 2009. Everything will be revealed in due time.

Supporting Slayer was nothing less then awesome! We had a great time and it was great to see allready so many people at such an early hour. We had a chance to meet a lot of cool people, were treated amazing and received a lot of good critics. Thanks to all!

Allright! November 12th we're supporting fuckin' SLAYER. Their Unholy Alliance passes by the Lotto Arena in Antwerp, with support acts Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth. And us off course! How come? TMF and Stubru selected us, Battalion and Spoil Engine as possible openers for Slayer and out of those 3 bands, Slayer ('s management) chose us to open the evening! Needless to say we are overexcited with this opportunity. Even though we're opening early in the evening, we will thrash the stage like we're used too! We'll hit the stage at 17h45 sharp so try to come to the show early and party with us!

Hey! It's been ages since we've informed all of you on what's going on over here! We promised to do this more regularly but we're a bunch of occupied fuckers apparently.

We've been at it like crazy past months, thrashing and partying, roadtripping through Denmark with Morda and chilling to the tunes of DeathMagnetic.

But the most exciting news is that Triumph Of Tragedy will be re-released in Europe by the German label Drakkar Records ! We're stoked about this and are looking forward to our colaboration. This will certainly take us to a higher level and one step closer to world domination! This is what Marius the boss has to say about us joining his roster:

Belgium's spearheading thrash metal act, THE DYING, have just been signed by Drakkar Records. "We are delighted to have this promising band on our roster for the whole of Europe, with the exception of the Benelux countries," comments label chief Marius Kopec with enthusiasm. Musically, THE DYING take no prisoners. Tough-as-nails guitars, furious drums and amazing vocals are the main ingredients of their interpretation of the New Wave Of Thrash Metal. A real treat for all fans of thrash icons such as Slayer, Exodus and Kreator, combined with At The Gates' legendary Gothenburg-style melodic metal and Pantera's direct, in-your-face metal.

The release is set for December 5th. So yeah, we're now labelbuddies with acts like Nightwish, Ensiferum, Misery Speaks, Lordi and many more. Pretty cool!!!

Allright! There's a reason why we haven't posted any news for about a month and that is that we have been very busy! We've played a lot of cool shows in Belgium, Holland, Germany and Poland. And we're not stopping, we've got a lot of cool shows in the near future! We've been asked to support Textures and the allmighty ARCH ENEMY on their Belgian date in Hof Ter Loo, Antwerp, next Monday. We're thrilled to thrash in a venue like this and chill with half of Carcass. Monday after that we're supporting Aiden at VK in Brussels. Completely different show, but it will rock none the less! Hope to see you all at one of these gigs!

Hey, we've updated the new site a little bit! We've added some new pics and the profiles are back! Check the bandinfo! We're still working on the online store. That shit doesn't seem to get finished.

This weekend promises to be nothing less but awesome as well. On Friday we're appearing at A Minute Till Death's releaseparty in Vilvoorde, Saturday we're playing the BxHell Fest in Brussels and Sunday we're thrashing with Dew Scented and Severe Torture in Ostend. Can't wait till the weekend and we hope to see all of you there!!

TRIUMPH OF TRAGEDY! The titel of the upcoming album which will air January 25! We're stoked! We've got some cool releaseshows coming up on January 26 and 27 in Bruges and Hasselt, maybe you've allready heard something about it. We're finishing up on the last details and will post all the info about them next week.

Talking about finishing up, the recordings are in their last stage, the mastering. Normally we should receive the finished record in a few days and we'll be able to post a first track of "Triumph Of Tragedy" for your listening pleasure, together with the releaseshows info.

But most important right now: we have found the fifth member! His name is Dirk and he is one of the best guitarplayers there is around! We're very pleased that he's joining the ranks and we're working very hard right now in order to prepare him to thrash with The Dying on stages worldwide. His profile and words will be up here shortly along with the new website. With Dirk joining the band, Kristof decided to return to his first and regained love, the bass. We're eager to thrash in this new line-up and feel this will take the mayhem one step further!

Hi all! Finaly we've got the time to post some updates, unfortunately without video and whatever we promised. We proved we couldn't handle it!
 
The recordings are almost finished. And it's safe to say they sound awesome! We're doing some more vocals this weekend and than we can start the mix. We've been in the studio for about a month and it has been very hectic! Recording the drums with Ace went pretty smooth, resulting in fast and furious battering and an amazing drumsound. Recording the guitars went less smooth. We came across a few problems which in the end made us decide to not continue recording the guitars at the Jonathas studios with Xavier. It was a shitty decision for both parties to make and we want to thank Xavier for his efforts.
Luckily Ace helped us out right away, so we ended up doing everything at the Fatsoundz studios  and the outcome is even better than we expected. Working with Ace was another great experience and we're eager to let all of you hear the result. A song will be posted shortly in anticipation of the release!
Also, a new website is in the pipelines, in function of the new album. Our good friend and housedesigner Chelke ensured us he's on to something ill. We're just as curious as you are haha! Check Designskills for some of his great work! 
With the recordings behind us we're working very hard on a few releaseshows and a tour in the beginning of next year. If you think you can help us out with this, contact us! Dates will also be posted shortly!
 
There's still no sign of a new bassplayer. We've had a few auditions but haven't decided anything. Not that the guys that auditioned weren't good enough. Some of us had a sudden change of heart and are thinking about getting a great lead guitarist and degrading Kristof or Koen to the bass position. We'll see how it turns out! 

Ben signed another endorsmentdeal with a U.S. company called "dB drumshoes"! dB drumshoes make ultra comfortable light-weight shoes especially designed for drummers. Ben will be added to their roster shortly together with some great metal-drummers from bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Chimaira, Unearth, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy,...!

We're playing a few cool shows before we start celebrating the release. This weekend we're thrashing the Bite Back Benefit in As with other great bands such as Deadlock and Days Of Betrayal. Be sure to be there as it is a great show for an even greater cause! Later that night we're rocking the Splinter Metal Fest in Turnhout. And don't forget about the ESSENCE release show on December 22nd! This is going to be one hell of a show!!!

Oh yeah, Powervice has risen!!! Hallelujah! 

Last straight line before we enter the studio! Time for a quick update. We've dedicated our entire summer to writing, rewriting and improving the new songs and we can't wait to put them on the harddisc. We're very excited about the new record and can't wait to get it out there! This effort will contain 11 tracks and will be recorded and mixed by Ace Zec and Xavier Carion. Mastering will be in the hands of Dragan Tanaskovic, who has worked with a lot of the older Swedish metal bands. This will no doubt add that little extra to the album. We also had a preview on the new artwork this week and we think it's safe to say that it is amazing! Fuck yeah!!

While taking a break from all this hard work we played some shows like Vlamrock and the Decade of Eye Spy show which were great! We also played a new song at these shows from the new album which got great reactions everywhere, so that was a relief and a confirmation at once. We're playing a bunch of shows in septembre and we will play a few new songs at these shows, so if you all want a scoop of what we've been up to, check the showssection to see when we're thrashing near you!!

Besides all this we're still looking for a new bassplayer! There were and still are a few candidates, but the spot is still open. For now, our good friend Danny from the promising metalcore band Essence is filling in, but unfortunately we can't rely on him forever. So if you're not afraid of some hard work, some sweat and a lot of thrashing and partying, you can still contact us through info@the-dying.com.

Hey, here we go again! Unfortunately this time with some sad news. The Dying and bassplayer Kurt have decided to part ways. Various reasons have brought us to this decision and though it is a hard one to make, we know it is for the best. Kurt is a great guy and a great musician and he has left his mark on this band. We wish him all the best with his other projects and his career.

Kurt leaving means there is an open spot! We're working hard on the new album and that's our main goal for now, but the band isn't complete without a bassplayer. So if you think you got what it takes, and it takes a lot: rehearsing 3 times a week, playing every show and tour no matter what, knowing how to thrash with decent material, having your own transportation, and so on, then feel free to contact us at info@the-dying.com !

We've just finished preproduction last week and we're more then ever stoked on the new material! It's the first time we've done something like a preproduction and it has opened a lot of new doors for us. With this we'll be working very hard the next 2 months before hitting the studio.

We're working together with a lot of people again for this one. For the recording and production of the drums we've decided to take it to none other then Ace Zec, who has produced bands like The Setup and Morda and who bangs the drums in Death Before Disco. Because of all his experience we know this is going to be great. For the strings and vocals we'll return once again to Xavier Carion's studio, no surprise. But also this time Xavier will mix the album, something he's never done before and that we are all, him and us, siked about. Mixing with Xavier has the benefit that we have time to mix it properly and we can assist him, hopefully to create a great sound of our own!!! We've also got a great artist allready working on the layout of the thick booklet Eyespy promised us to go with the cd!!! We'll keep you updated!

We're not playing many shows this summer because of all the time we're putting in the album. So if you guys want to have a chance to thrash with us this summer, go check the shows section!!!

Hey, it's been almost 2 months since the last update, so here it goes!
We did a lot of crazy shows the last 2 months and met some great people and bands! We went to Germany with Crimson Falls, thrashed Holland with Pleurisy and railed to the Island with Morda. We had a great time and want to thank everybody that thrashed with us these 2 months.
The New Album! It is coming up! In order to get a maximum result we decided to play less shows during the summer. We're only doing a handfull so check the shows-section to see where! We're hitting Xaviers studios in the last weekend of June to start the preproduction. During the rest of the summer we're concentrating on working for the actual recordings which will happen in Octobre. For the new record we will again work with numerous people for the best result. We'll tell you more about this next update!

Update! It's that time again. There's a lot going on these days so here goes!

EYESPY! Finally! We're stoked to announce that The Dying joins EyeSpy Records. Out of all the people interested we decided EyeSpy would be the right party to work with in order to get this band further. We're also working on a few license deals in order to get the best distribution possible. We'll hit our producer Xavier's studio in July and present the new album in the beginning of Octobre! We want to thank Wulf and the rest at EyeSpy for their support!

STAGG! Ben signs new endorsement deal!
After his endorsement deal with drumstick manufacturer Pro-Mark, Ben signed a new deal with cymbal factory Stagg. Stagg is a Belgian musical instrument manufacturer which has grown enormously over the past years. Their cymbal factory based in China make handcrafted cymbals from the famous B20 alloy. Ben went to the Belgian headquarters to check out the stuff and to try out the metal!! This is what he has to say:
"Today I went to the EMD-music headquarters in Brussels to test and choose a complete new line of Stagg-cymbals. I tried a lot of stuff and I had a great time choosing the cymbals! I was truly amazed how cool all these cymbals sound… Finally there are B20 alloy cymbals that sound amazing for a fair price! This will be the new cymbalset I will be banging on:

Limburg Underground! We've said it allready last week, but here's more news on the subject. We've hit the studio to record 1 track for the Limburg Underground II compilation. The Sadist Virus was again recorded at Xavier's studio. We love going back to that guy! The comp will be released somewhere in August, so keep an eye open!

SHOWS! A lot of cool shows coming up next couple of weeks. We'll head to Germany next week to do a few shows with our friends in End All Plans, in May we'll do a few German dates again, this time with our buddies in Crimson Falls and also in May we'll thrash the UK with partners in crime Morda! Hey, today we are playing two shows, one in Genk and one in Wippelgem. It will be awesome to thrash twice. So come out and say "hello". Yo! Finally an update on what we're doing over here! We've been very busy the last couple of months and it's time to inform you all!
DEMO. As you might know, the 3 songs that you can download somewhere on this site are also on a demo. We've sent that out to numerous labels and bookingsagencies in order to take this band one step further. And the reactions are great! We're getting a lot of emails and myspacemessages from kids digging it, so thanks for that! But also the media for which the recordings wer intended are enthousiast. We've allready been in contact with a few labels and started a collaboration with a bookingsagency from Holland!
PROPHECY BOOKINGS. We're siked to announce that we'll be on Stefan's Prophecy roster! Check his site to know what he is up to! An official statement will be posted up here shortly!

Hi there, we are The Dying, a badass thrashmetal band from Belgium. Maybe you already knew us as 'Chimaera' but from now on we'll be thrashing the world by this new name. The reason we changed our band name into The Dying is very simple. Because there is also an American band called Chimaira playing pretty much the same kind of music, too many kids got confused. So that's why we decided to put an end to this misunderstanding. Anyway, we hope you like our new tunes and we expect to see you at one of our oncoming shows! Thrash 'em all!!
